Ideas
Create Facebook Groups for each campus service center
Create Facebook Groups for each major service project at a campus
Encourage as many students as possible to join Facebook so they can network with others doing service on their campus and the nationally
Experiment with Facebook App my!TeamPlanner for service project team management (or use a wiki...see below)
In addition to Facebook (which is a good choice because it is widely used by students), we want to experiment with plug-ins or links with other social networking tools that can work to network campus-based centers, groups, clubs, departments, and others engaged in service. We need to expand coordination of already-existing efforts in order to enhance them and engage new volunteers and supporters.
Examples
We set up a Facebook Group -- Serve 2.0 Working Group -- to facilitate networking among people interested in this initiative.
We have a facebookpagefor our office and have been thinking about placing an ad--targeted, e.g., to folks who say they're in the Class of 2012. We can send updates to "fans," they can upload photos or videos, and we have set up the site to grab RSS feeds from our blog to import as notes.
